| Storytelling
in therapy & counselling |
‘Excellent
... Many valuable practical skills were taught and there were
some vital new insights into the importance of story and metaphor.
Presentation was superb.’ Sarah Johnstone,
university campus counsellor.

The
enormous value of stories and metaphors in therapy and
counselling is increasingly being recognized. Human beings
are natural storytellers – but when things go wrong,
the stories they tell themselves can be badly skewed.
Telling stories is an ancient but hugely effective and
immediate way of reframing, showing new possibilities,
new ways of looking at things and also of talking directly
to the imaginative mind, bypassing more conscious resistances. |
Courses
for practising and trainee therapists introduce and extend storytelling
skills in intelligent, practical and effective ways with a framework
of organizing ideas that avoids the traps of psychobabble.
Public
courses on metaphor and story are currently organized in various
locations throughout the UK by Mindfields
College including Making Metaphors for Healthy
Changes with Rob Parkinson. Enquiries for in-house training
